Email is one of the main ways we communicate and share pertinent information and documents. But we also know it can be compromised by cyber criminals. There is a way to make email more secure with encryption, encoding the information in the email.
The biggest player in the encryption market is Microsoft’s Office Message Encryption, or OME, which is available with the higher tier Office 365 packages. This allows you to encrypt your email between all your organization members. You can also use OME to encrypt email going outside of your organization.
Encryption is especially important if you deal with very sensitive information. Another way to handle sensitive information is to have a website with a secure file cabinet for securely moving information. In this case, you attach a link to the file. When the client receives it, they don’t get the file itself. Instead they get a link to access a portal where they can view and download the files.
Consider using email encryption or a secure portal when dealing with PII - personal identifying information - or other sensitive files. We are here to help you determine the best options for file and data security for your business. Don’t hesitate to give us a call.
