If there's a demand for urgent action, stop and think.

    January 26, 2023

A phishing scam is circulating where they’re using emotional pressure to manipulate you or your team into making a mistake.

The scammers send an email that warns of a suspicious attempted login to one of your accounts.

You’re asked to click a link and verify your login details in the email.

If you click, a one-hour countdown timer appears with the message that you must act by the deadline or your account will be deleted.

At this point, many would feel distressed and instantly do what’s been asked.

The reality is that if you miss the deadline, nothing will happen. This is a phishing scam.

They count on you entering your login details on a fake page. That’s how they steal your password.

The timer creates urgency and demands immediate action.

If you face anything like this, stop and think. Would an actual service provider apply that kind of pressure and penalty?

Share this with your team. And if anyone ever clicks a link they’re unsure about, ask us how to protect your business.
