The Windows 10 Update Schedule

March 24, 2022

Most businesses these days run Windows 10. By default, the update process is automated. While this is convenient and ensures you won’t forget to run the updates, it can also have negative consequences.

In the past few years, Microsoft’s quality assurance has been a little bit lacking. We have seen a lot of problems coming from some of the updates. For example, a few weeks ago they released an update that killed the built-in VPN. It took 11 days to restore that service.

While updates are important, it’s also important to have good quality. This is a benefit of having a managed IT service provider. We blacklist and whitelist the Microsoft updates as they come out. We don’t push them immediately, unless they go through a process of vetting.

We push the updates that have been tested and vetted and can improve security. One of the biggest powers that we have as an MSP is that we can control the update process so you don’t have to worry about it. We are helping our clients prevent this quality downfall by delaying the updates.

If you have any questions about cybersecurity updates or other IT services, schedule a call with us. We can help you any time.
