Over the past year, since COVID started, we’ve seen an increase in phishing emails – 142% in just the last six months! A phishing email would be any email sent with the purpose of getting you to click, send, or activate something on your computer. It can be very devastating to your business if access is gained to your network through someone innocently clicking a link in one of these emails.
One of our clients received an email that looked legitimate and she clicked a link in the email. This opened a back door into her Office 365 system allowing hackers to gain access to their account. The hackers quickly set up a forward rule to forward every email to the company out to another account. Thankfully it was detected quickly and shut down. But the damage was already done.
Criminals are getting very sophisticated, so these emails can look official and legitimate. You have to look at emails very carefully. We offer training about phishing emails and how to avoid them. If you are interested in learning more and how to train your employees, we can help you with that. Schedule a consultation.
