Windows 11 has been out for several months now, and we’ve had questions about whether to upgrade. When there is a big Windows update, we always recommend waiting for at least two quarterly updates to come out before updating. So, basically, wait six or eight months.
One reason, you want to make sure Microsoft gets all the bugs worked out. Another reason, you want to give enough time for software developers to catch up on the changes and get their software optimized with the new system. We’ve seen many issues with some processors and some software that is not fully compatible, with bugs that need to be fixed.
So, don’t get shiny object syndrome when a new system comes out. Wait at least six months, if not longer, after a new release. You can check with your vendors to see if they support the new system and if there are any known bugs they are working on. We’re here to answer any questions about Windows, cybersecurity, or other IT concerns.
