Would your team fall for this trick?

February 23, 2023

It’s hard to believe, but some criminals are resorting to an old trick that, unfortunately, can still fool many people. They are shipping USB drives that appear to be from Microsoft and contain an updated version of Office. However, the drive is actually loaded with malware that can infect your computer.

Once you plug in the USB drive, the malware will try to deceive you into calling a fake support line. The person on the other end of the line will use various tactics to convince you to divulge your bank details. Realizing anyone in your business could fall for this scam is alarming.

To protect your business, it’s best to play it safe and warn everyone about this scam. In addition, reviewing the software and staff training you use to protect your business is also a good idea. Finding the right combination of these elements is crucial for safeguarding your company from cyber security threats.
